Abstract:
In Italy, Inner Areas cover almost 60% of the whole national territory, hosting nearly 23% of national population and approximately 53% of Italy’s municipalities (DPS, 2013).
In the last 40 years the Italian population has grown by 10 %, while in several inner area’s population has decreased by as much as 30% (DPS, 2013).
This article wants to present the evidences of educational poverty and innovations experienced in these territories. The school in these areas is at the same time a field of didactic experimentation and innovation (multiclass, nursery school in the forest, horizontal didactic cooperation) and civic center (often school buildings are a shared asset and are also used beyond the teaching).
